The ICRC’s mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. Emergencies are unpredictable, so a rapid deployment capability is hugely important. The ICRC achieves its mission through three main field activities: Protection, Assistance and Prevention.
